Motor Shop

Our motor shop is completely outfitted and manned by experienced, skilled technicians. We repair fractional to 2,500 horsepower motors and generators, for both AC and DC. PDS has the capability for repair/fabrication of slip rings, rotors, shafts, dynamic balancing, re-winding, re-insulation, electro-plating, and complete testing. We also do repairs and cleaning in place. PDS is a NAVSES-certified representative authorized to perform SIS (Sealed Insulated System) using our vacuum pressure impregnation and epoxy insulation system on electric motors.

PDS Motor Shop equipment includes, but is not limited to Epoxylite VPI (Vacuum/Pressure Impregnation), 2 Bake Ovens (including 1 extra-large), 2 Varnish Dip Tanks (including 1 extra-large), Bead Blasting System, Steam Cleaning System (including boil out tanks), Lexseco Core Tester, 2 Coil Winders and a Dynamic Balancing Machine. Some of our test equipment includes Meggers, High Pot, Resistance, Motor Control Centers, Surge, Hot Spot, Rotor Tester, Surface Tensiometer, and Handheld Meters. Shop machinery includes Lathes, Mills, Grinders, Hydraulic Press, and Electro-Plating.
